Yang Min-hyeok is set to join KVC Westerlo on loan as Tottenham prioritize regular first-team experience for the South Korean winger.
Tottenham Hotspur prospect Yang Min-hyeok is on the verge of completing a loan move to Belgian Pro League side KVC Westerlo after undergoing a medical following a full agreement between the two clubs.
According to a report by John Wenham and Declan Carr for Tottenham News, featuring insights from Spurs expert John Wenham, the 20-year-old South Korean winger is embarking on his next career step after pre-season exposure highlighted his need for further developmental experience before challenging for first-team minutes.
Reporter Sacha Tavolieri revealed that a full agreement has been reached with Roberto De Zerbi’s side, paving the way for the young attacker to move to Belgium.
Yang joined Tottenham in 2025 from K League side Gangwon FC with hopes that he could eventually emulate the impact made by compatriot Son Heung-min. Since arriving in England, the winger has gained varied experience through previous loan spells at Queen’s Park Rangers, Portsmouth, and Coventry City. While his stints at QPR and Portsmouth proved productive, his recent time with Coventry yielded more mixed results.
Addressing the player’s development in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham backed the decision to send Yang on loan but admitted he would have preferred the player to remain in English football:
“I think it’s a great decision for Yang to head out on loan, based on what we have seen on pre-season. He does not look ready to contribute to a Tottenham side that will be looking to finish in the top five of the Premier League, he looks quite far off that level to be honest. I would have preferred he had another loan in English football, the loans at Queen’s Park Rangers and Portsmouth went well, the loan at Coventry did not go so well.”

Sending Yang to KVC Westerlo represents a continuation of the working partnership established between Tottenham Hotspur and the Antwerp-based club. Spurs previously utilized Westerlo as a development station for academy talents Alfie Devine and Luka Vuskovic, establishing a clear blueprint for young players seeking regular European minutes.
Both Vuskovic and Devine used their spells in Belgium as stepping stones toward subsequent successful loans at Hamburg and Preston, ultimately allowing Tottenham to generate substantial sale fees this summer. Vuskovic was sold in a deal worth up to £50 million with an initial £46 million fee, while Devine brought in £6 million upon his departure. Should Yang fail to establish himself as a long-term starter in North London, a productive spell with Westerlo ensures Spurs can still maximize his market value for a future transfer.
