Tottenham plot sensational hijack of Atletico Madrid’s move for LOSC Lille star.
Tottenham Hotspur have been busy this summer, with players of different profiles coming in to become a part of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad rebuild. They have significantly beefed up the defence and midfield.
However, the Hotspur Way chiefs are keen on reloading their attack in the last couple of weeks of the summer transfer window. The club’s hierarchy are understood to be working to bring in strikers and wingers. Savinho and Cody Gakpo remain Roberto De Zerbi’s primary targets, but the Lilywhites are simultaneously keeping tabs on other attackers.
Tottenham plot stunning hijack of Atletico Madrid’s pursuit of LOSC Lille forward
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Atletico Madrid have submitted a formal €35m bid for LOSC Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, but Tottenham and Manchester City are planning to hijack the Spanish club’s move. Lille are under no pressure to sell the 21-year-old despite Atletico Madrid’s opening offer.
Matias Fernandez-Pardo joined Lille from Gent in 2024, and after a slow start to life in French football, he has grown and matured in the last 12 to 15 months. The highly-rated Belgian enjoyed a fruitful 2025/26 campaign, bagging eight goals and seven assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. This saw him become a part of Rudi Garcia’s Belgium squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he made three appearances off the bench.
The report adds that Fernandez-Pardo is open to the prospect of moving to the Spanish capital, but Atletico Madrid face competition from English clubs. Having grown frustrated with Man City winger Savinho’s pursuit, Tottenham are scouring the market for alternatives and have been attracted to Fernandez-Pardo’s profile. Meanwhile, Man City could move for the Lille forward should Savinho depart.
Fernandez-Pardo’s versatility is a big part of the appeal to the clubs, with the player comfortable on the left and through the middle, which suits De Zerbi’s profile for flexible forwards. There is speculation surrounding Richarlison’s future, while ankle-related issues continue to hold back Dominic Solanke. If Richarlison is cashed in amid Everton interest, Fernandez-Pardo would be a smart option to replace the Brazilian international in N17.
At 21, the five-cap Belgium international is nowhere near the finished product and can develop massively under De Zerbi’s watchful eyes. He has the talent and potential to explode in the Premier League if groomed well. That said, it will be interesting to see whether the Tottenham chiefs move quickly to hijack Atletico’s move for the highly-rated Fernandez-Pardo.
