Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is finally heading to Juventus.
Guglielmo Vicario’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has been under the cloud since the end of last season. The 29-year-old did not feature for Spurs after undergoing hernia surgery in March. Roberto De Zerbi kept faith in Antonin Kinsky in goal in seven games, and Kinsky delivered.
Earlier this summer, the Tottenham coach confirmed that Kinsky has been promoted to the No.1 spot, and recognising that his regular playing time could be reduced in the upcoming campaign, Guglielmo Vicario is understood to be open to leaving N17. He wants to return to Serie A, with Juventus showing the most concrete interest in signing the goalkeeper in the last two months.
Recent reports suggest Juventus have seen their loan offer for Vicario rebuffed. Spurs were approached by the Bianconeri for a straight season-long loan for the Italian shot-stopper, but they quickly rejected the advances because the proposed deal structure did not satisfy their financial conditions.

Rejection of a straight loan offer for Vicario resulted in Juventus making a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. The Serie A side had submitted a €10 million offer for Martinez. That came after momentum picked up regarding them circling back to Martinez, with Aston Villa agreeing to a deal for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki earlier on Sunday.
However, in a late twist of events, Juventus abandoned their pursuit of Martinez. It has been reported that the key decision-makers at the Old Lady aren’t happy with the Argentinean international’s recent injury worries. This development has led to the Italian outfit pivoting back to Vicario.
Now, according to Italian journalist Orazio Accomando on X, Juventus have ‘accelerated’ in talks with Tottenham and have agreed a loan with an obligation to buy for Vicario. The deal will be ‘closed’ on Monday, he added.
This means the goalkeeping musical chair involving Juve, Tottenham and Aston Villa is soon coming to an end. The Bianconeri have decided not to take any risk with the injury-prone Martinez and move ahead with Vicario instead. Spurs have also become more flexible with their demands for the Italian, which has further encouraged the Turin heavyweights.
It remains to be seen what conditions have been attached to the obligation to buy for the Italian international. Juve will be looking to sharpen the rough edges of the agreement with Spurs, iron out any pending issues and give the green light for Vicario to travel to Turin to undergo his medical.
After three up-and-down seasons in North London, Vicario is heading back to his homeland. The 29-year-old will be remembered by the fans for his valuable contribution in the Europa League final win over Manchester United in Bilbao in May 2025, where he kept a clean sheet. After weeks and months of speculation, he is finally heading home and joining a top club in Juve.
