Guglielmo Vicario has moved to Juventus on a season-long loan from Tottenham.
One of the dragged-out summer sagas is finally over! Guglielmo Vicario has joined Juventus on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur, the North London club has confirmed. There is an option to make the deal permanent for an £8.6 million fee.
The Italian international moved to Spurs from Empoli in the summer of 2023. He made 117 appearances across three seasons at White Hart Lane before returning to his homeland.
Guglielmo Vicario lost his No.1 spot to Antonin Kinsky after undergoing hernia surgery during the March international break, which coincided with the arrival of Roberto De Zerbi as Tottenham head coach when the club was fighting relegation. As Kinsky impressed in goal, De Zerbi decided to stick with the youngster who kept Vicario out of the side for the final seven games of the season.

Vicario came through Udinese’s youth ranks before spells at Venezia, Perugia, Cagliari and Empoli, where he made 69 Serie A appearances and established himself as one of Serie A’s most reliable shot-stoppers.
The 29-year-old’s signing addresses a position that had become an increasingly urgent problem for the Old Lady. Michele Di Gregorio‘s error-strewn performances last season prompted the Serie A club to explore a host of names over the summer, including Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez and Liverpool’s Alisson Becker. After they did not proceed with Martinez due to his injury concerns, Juventus have eventually turned to Vicario.
Mattia Perin and Carlo Pinsoglio should provide back-up to Vicario in Turin, with Di Gregorio set to be loaned out now. The former Tottenham glovesman will hope to help Juventus improve their fortunes this season after they faltered in the league last time out, finishing in sixth place, 18 points adrift of champions Inter Milan. He could make his debut as early as this Sunday, provided he is registered in time, as Juventus open their 2026/27 campaign away at Frosinone.
The Italian has been desperate to return to his homeland all summer, and after months of speculation, he’s got his dream move. Now, it is on Vicario to perform consistently and prove why he was once rated as one of the division’s highly-rated goalkeepers. Hopefully, Vic delivers the goods, and Juve end up triggering his £8.6 million buy option in 2027.
