The Senegal international is on the chopping block at Stamford Bridge after returning from a successful loan spell at Bayern Munich. The Blues have slapped a €70m price tag on the 25-year-old as they look to cash in on him before the transfer window closes.
With Richarlison still pondering a move to Everton and Dominic Solanke being linked with a summer transfer to Nottingham Forest, it is important that Spurs bring in attacking reinforcements in the coming days. Beginning the new campaign without an out-and-out striker would be risky, given that Roberto de Zerbi relies heavily on his forwards to link up with the wide players and score crucial goals. Therefore, it makes sense for the Lilywhites to make a move for Nicolas Jackson.
However, landing Jackson may not be straightforward for the North Londoners. As per Nicolo Schira (via X), Aston Villa are advancing in talks to land the Senegal international in the coming days. Unai Emery “loves” the player and is keen to reunite with him after their positive spell together at Villareal. Nicolas Jackson is also prioritising a move to Villa Park as he aims to play under the Spanish tactician and reignite his career in the Premier League.
It seems more than likely that Spurs will end up on the losing side in this transfer battle. Therefore, it makes complete sense for the Lilywhites to shift their focus towards other targets instead. Recent reports suggest that the North Londoners are on the verge of completing a deal for Cody Gakpo after agreeing personal terms with the player. The Dutchman is tactically fluid and can easily play either on the wing or as a lone striker.
