Tottenham have loosened their purse strings this summer to address the glaring holes in Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.
After making six signings in the opening weeks of the window, Tottenham Hotspur haven’t completed a new signing since the club-record arrival of Sandro Tonali on July 6. However, the North Londoners now have an agreement to sign Savinho from Manchester City for £75million, plus £10m in potential add-ons.
The Brazilian winger is set to arrive soon in North London to undergo his medical and become a part of Roberto De Zerbi’s revolution at Spurs. The 22-year-old has waited all summer long to leave Manchester City for Tottenham. He is expected to become the club’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
Well, Savinho isn’t the only Man City player De Zerbi wants in his roster. The Italian tactician is keen to sign Omar Marmoush as well. The Egyptian forward has agreed personal terms with Spurs and will follow Savinho to become a part of their attacking unit for the 2026/27 campaign. Latest reports suggest Tottenham have reached a broad agreement of close to £70 million plus add-ons for the 27-year-old.
Roberto De Zerbi says Tottenham are ‘not finished yet’ in the transfer market
If it all comes off, it would mean a summer outlay close to £400m on eight players and represents a radical change of policy for a club often criticised for failing to spend freely on high-potential talents. In his press conference ahead of the Brentford game, De Zerbi vowed Spurs were ‘not finished yet’ in the transfer market.
“Just to say, I am very happy. We have not finished yet in the transfer market. It is an important part,” De Zerbi was quoted by Football London.
“So far, we have had a great [summer for] signings. Great players and personalities. But you don’t win the game with big-name players. We have to deserve to win games.
“We are working very well with Johan Lange, with Vinai [Venkatesham], and with Nick [Beucher] — with the whole board.”
Great ambition shown in the transfer market
The Tottenham hierarchy have done brilliantly to back De Zerbi in the transfer market following a dismal campaign last season. We narrowly avoided relegation after finishing just one place above the drop zone, which made squad overhaul the need of the hour this summer.
Spurs have shown great ambition and intent in the transfer market. They managed to fend off competition to land most of their targets, investing heavily in Premier League-proven, high-volume players who could quickly settle in at the club and hit the ground running.
Given how the squad is shaping up, there’s a buzz and excitement within the N17 faithful. And after De Zerbi stated that the club are not yet done in the transfer market, Tottenham fans won’t rule out further signings after the acquisitions of Savinho and Marmoush.
