Newcastle looking to sign Tottenham target as the Toons make €45m bid for €70m forward

Tottenham are in dire need of an attacker.

Tottenham Hotspur has been quite aggressive in the ongoing summer transfer window, and we saw that in how the club went on to pursue some floor-raiser signings from fellow English top-tier rivals this summer.

But as we head into the conclusive week of the summer transfer window, the club has finally started to focus on bringing in those offensive players who can be a long-term option at Tottenham.

This stand comes after the fact that Tottenham have brought in Omar Marmoush and Savinho in a double deal from Manchester City. But following the arrival of those two, Vinai can finally focus on bringing in someone who can increase the Lilywhites’ traits from the flank.

And that is where Roberto De Zerbi & Co. were pushing to bring in Matias Fernandez-Pardo given how highly he has been rated across Europe.

Newcastle launch Matias Fernandez-Pardo bid

While the push to his signing was more of a speculation that has been coming along quite in the background of all the news about Cody Gakpo. But the interest in Matias Fernandez-Pardo has been gaining interest in the background from other clubs, with Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig being the first to move.

There were reports last week confirming their interest in signing the Belgian prodigy. But while the Red Bull-owned club pursues his signing, English giants Newcastle United have gone on to submit an official bid of around €45m for his signature. (h/t Loïc Tanzi)

While the player remains open to pursue a move away from Lille this summer, the French club will not sanction a move away at that valuation. Lille is reportedly holding out for a fee around €70m for his signing.

Tottenham focusing on Gakpo at the moment

And as Newcastle look to push for Fernandez-Pardo, Tottenham does have priorities of their own at the moment, with the first being to close the Marmoush and Savinho transfers, followed by Spurs’ pursuit of Cody Gakpo.

While there hasn’t been much reported about Spurs’ interest in the teenager, which shows how Tottenham sees the Belgian as more of an alternative if Gakpo’s signing doesn’t happen and their ‘plan B’ of Mudryk ends up moving to Leeds United.

We will see where this one goes from here, especially given the pace at which Newcastle are moving; it does look quite difficult that he’d be on the market by the time we get to the other side of this Gakpo situation.

Do you think Tottenham should start looking at Gakpo alternatives and consider these moves seriously? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
