Tottenham youngster Mikey Moore has accepted a loan move to FC Koln.
Bundesliga club FC Koln sent a loan offer for Tottenham Hotspur’s academy talent Mikey Moore, and quickly moved to the front of the queue to land the winger.
The reputation of Mikey Moore was enhanced during his season-long loan with Rangers in the Scottish Premiership. The teenager looked a class above in Scotland, delivering impressive displays for Rangers. The youngster is now looking to take a step up from the Scottish Premiership.
The Tottenham starlet’s preferred destination is the Bundesliga, with the player having agreed to join FC Koln on a season-long loan. However, it was recently reported that Roberto De Zerbi had temporarily halted Moore’s exit to Koln after a deal was struck, as the Tottenham head coach wanted attacking reinforcements to first arrive through the door before greenlighting the move.
FC Koln up their ante to land Mikey Moore
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Koln are upping their ante to finalise a season-long loan deal for Moore. Both clubs are now targeting completion of a deal within 48 hours.
Tottenham have given a verbal agreement to Koln over a loan deal that includes no option or obligation to buy. The player has a contract until 2030, and the club have made it very clear several times that they have no intention of sanctioning a permanent departure this summer.
The Bundesliga club want to wrap up a deal for the teenage prodigy as quickly as possible so he can link up with the squad and get acclimatised to the demands of the league. Moore’s pace, dribbling, work rate, energy and versatility would hugely benefit Koln’s attacking unit. He is also a composed finisher in front, with the winger netting seven times for Rangers last season.
Despite a verbal loan agreement in place, Moore was surprisingly handed a start in Tottenham’s season-opener against Brentford. He played 68 minutes on the right wing, as Spurs got battered 3-0 by Brentford. Although De Zerbi publicly criticised certain aspects of his game, it is worth noting that the youngster still created Spurs’ clearest chances and tested Brentford goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher a couple of times.
Now with Tottenham announcing Savinho’s arrival from Manchester City on Tuesday afternoon, Moore is expected to get the green signal to travel to Germany and complete his medical at Koln after the Charlton Athletic cup fixture.
The Spurs chiefs want their academy product to continue developing this season with regular game time, and they feel Koln is the right place for Moore to play his football temporarily.
