The retired midfielder shared a brilliant anecdote about his unique pathway to the professional ranks. Before experiencing the intense pressure of top-flight football, Jackson played purely for the sheer love of the game. He proudly featured for a local youth side called Westward Boys over in Camden.

He told club reporters that he was “spotted playing grassroots football” for his local Camden side. The young midfielder regularly performed in front of various scouts representing different professional clubs across the city. However, a personal connection ultimately paved the way for his eventual move to North London.

A Brilliant Old School Scouting Network Secures A Local Gem

The modern game relies heavily on data analytics and massive scouting departments. Things operated very differently during the early stages of Jackson developing his undeniable footballing abilities. He explained that a gentleman named Terry Agambar was exactly “the person who invited me” to officially train with Spurs.

Jackson noted that his father “sort of knew” the local talent spotter personally. Fascinatingly, Agambar balanced his scouting duties with a completely regular day job. Jackson fondly recalled that Terry was actually a cab driver who did some scouting for Spurs on the side.

That casual invitation completely changed the trajectory of his entire professional life. The young prospect began training with the club when he “was 10 or 11” years old. He showed immense dedication to survive the brutal academy cull over the following years.

Jackson proudly confirmed that he stayed with the club “right through from there to first team level”. The dedicated N17 faithful always appreciate a truly brilliant story about local boys living their ultimate footballing dream.
