Tottenham are keen to stregthen their attack before the transfer window shuts shop in a few days’ time.
Tottenham have taken some huge strides in the transfer market by bringing in several top-quality players. The Lilywhites have managed to complete a major squad overhaul, shifting the dynamics towards a side that Roberto de Zerbi can easily implement his playing style with. The recruitment has been spot-on, and it is fair to suggest that the North Londoners have not shied away from taking on added responsibility to build a team that is ready to compete at the top end of the Premier League table.
Savio became the club’s seventh signing of the summer after the talented winger arrived at N17 from Manchester City on a long-term deal. The Brazilian completed an £85m move (including add-ons) to Hotspur Way, becoming Spurs’ first attacking recruitment of this transfer window. He is seen as one of two new players from Manchester City who are ready to make their mark at Hotspur Way and create a lasting legacy under Roberto de Zerbi.
The other player is Omar Marmoush. It comes as no surprise that the North Londoners have been keeping tabs on the Egypt international for quite some time. He fell down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium, playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland during his time with the Cityzens. Therefore, the 27-year-old is now on the verge of completing a high-profile move to Spurs this summer, potentially becoming the club’s eighth signing of the window.
Omar Marmoush has no activated clauses in his contract
Tottenham are determined to bolster their attack before the transfer window shuts. The arrival of Savio has been seen as a huge step in the right direction for the Lilywhites as they continue to build a squad capable of going toe-to-toe with their rivals in the coming months. As a result, the North Londoners have also managed to spend approximately £332m on new arrivals this summer, signifying a complete change in the recruitment policy at Hotspur Way.
It now seems like Spurs are on track to complete the deal for Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush this week. It was reported last week that the Lilywhites had reached a broad agreement with the Cityzens worth over £60m for the Egypt international. The North Londoners were reportedly signing the player on an initial loan deal, with a mandatory buy option included. However, delays in the paperwork and the activation of a few clauses meant that the signing was yet to be confirmed.
Now, however, it seems as though the transfer saga involving Marmoush and Spurs is finally reaching its climax. As per Florian Plettenberg (via X), the 27-year-old is set to complete his medical at Hotspur Way today before finalising a move to N17 on Thursday. The Egypt international has said his goodbyes to his Manchester City teammates and is on the verge of completing a high-profile move to the North London club.
Plettenberg has also reported that Eintracht Frankfurt have no sell-on clause for Omar Marmoush. This basically means that the Bundesliga giants received a guaranteed €75m fee from Manchester City for his services, plus an additional €5m in bonuses. So, all payment obligations made to Eintracht Frankfurt were fulfilled in due time. As a result, reports claiming that Man City set Marmoush’s asking price in such a way as to avoid a sell-on clause are reportedly untrue.
Fans might have to wait until Saturday to watch Omar Marmoush make his Spurs debut under Roberto de Zerbi. The Egypt international would certainly provide a different dynamic in the final third of the pitch, replacing Richarlison in the starting eleven. He would add more goals to this team, thanks to his clinical finishing and his ability to find runs into channels during transitions.
