‘You might get £50m’ – Stefan Borson feels 28-year-old forward could depart Tottenham before window slams shut

Dominic Solanke had an injury-ravaged 2025/26 season with Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly agreed a season-long loan deal with Manchester City for forward Omar Marmoush with an obligation to buy for £60 million next year.

The Egypt international is now set to undergo a medical with the North London club and complete the formalities of the move. It will be Spurs’ second capture from Manchester City in a matter of days after signing Savio in a total package worth £85m.

The potential arrival of Marmoush is certain to leave the futures of Dominic Solanke and Richarlison in doubt. Dominic Solanke had a decent debut season at White Hart Lane, netting 16 goals in all competitions. However, the striker’s impact was minimal last season, thanks largely due to injury problems. While Richarlison was the club’s top scorer with 12 goals in a difficult last season, the Brazilian’s injury history since arriving at Tottenham is well-documented.

Football finance expert makes big claim on Dominic Solanke

Now, football finance expert Stefan Borson has made a stinging admission on Solanke’s future at Spurs. He thinks the Lilywhites could sell the England international for £50m, but casts doubt over which club would spend that amount before the transfer window slams shut.

“What would you get for [Dominic] Solanke? You might get £50m, maybe. It’s not easy to see where these players go though,” Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider.

“Who’s got £50m to spend? I say it very sort of simplistically, but if you if you go away and spend that kind of money, really you have to qualify.”

Nottingham Forest have shown an interest in signing Solanke this month, but they are unlikely to spend £50m, which Borson thinks Tottenham might get, for his services. The English striker has had a torrid time with injuries in the past 12 months, with him also missing several pre-season games this summer. For a player persistently struggling with ankle and hamstring injuries, any club would be cautious about spending big.

However, it is also worth noting that Roberto De Zerbi views Solanke as an “important player”. It does not look like De Zerbi will sanction a late departure of the striker, unless an out-of-the-blue, extraordinary bid is tabled. Despite his injury problems, the 28-year-old is rated highly by the Italian tactician and wants to keep him at the club.

Solanke is the only out-and-out No.9 in the squad, and De Zerbi and his coaching staff must manage his fitness well this season.
