With Kinsky faltering, veteran PL goalkeeper available for less than £10million

Tottenham and Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Aston Villa star.

Tottenham Hotspur have undergone an expensive overhaul of the squad after narrowly escaping relegation under head coach Roberto De Zerbi. Several areas of the pitch have been reinforced, as the Lilywhites aim to enjoy a strong campaign.

De Zerbi has overseen the departures of some experienced players over the summer. Guglielmo Vicario has been one of those, with the goalkeeper joining Juventus on a season-long loan with an option to buy. As the Spurs boss promoted Antonin Kinsky to the No.1 spot and added veteran Martin Dubravka as his cover, Vicario’s time in N17 was over.

However, since Kinsky’s mistake for the second goal in the opening weekend’s 3-0 defeat to Brentford, the club’s links with a new goalkeeper has intensified.

Aston Villa name valuation of their star goalkeeper

Emiliano Martinez has been pursuing a move away from Aston Villa this summer. The 2026 World Cup finalist was heavily linked with a move to Juventus till that transfer collapsed, and the Turin giants turned to Vicario.

Now, according to a report from TEAMtalk, intermediaries have offered the chance to Tottenham and Chelsea to sign Emiliano Martinez, with Aston Villa looking to move on the experienced goalkeeper this summer.

The Villans are demanding less than £10million for the 33-year-old, who made it clear before the World Cup that he wants a new adventure. They have acted decisively and signed goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma earlier this month, opening the door for Martinez’s exit.

Tottenham could do with additional stability between the posts. Martinez has been rated among the world’s best goalkeepers. The Argentina international provides exceptional leadership, aerial command, strong reflex saves, and calmness when handling crosses into the penalty area. The Villa star’s experience playing at the highest levels of European competition, coupled with his World Cup-winning pedigree, makes him an attractive candidate for De Zerbi’s tactical vision at Spurs.

At 33, Martinez would perhaps be the best goalkeeper for Kinsky to learn from and develop his skill set. And valued under £10million, the 2022 World Cup winner is a market opportunity the Lilywhites cannot miss out on. However, with Chelsea vying for his signature, and clubs from the MLS and Saudi Pro League keen too, Spurs must hurry up.
