Tottenham are keen on strengthening their attack before the transfer window shuts
Tottenham are hoping to bring in attacking reinforcements before the transfer window shuts in a few days’ time. As we approach the business end of the window, the Lilywhites are keen on bolstering their attack by signing players who could make an instant impact at N17 under Roberto de Zerbi. It is important that the North Londoners bring in players who can hit the ground running and help the club get back to winning ways in the Premier League.
It comes as no surprise that Spurs are keen on signing a new centre-forward this summer. The performance against Brentford last weekend was enough proof that a new striker is needed who could displace Richarlison from the starting eleven. The Lilywhites posed no real goal-scoring threat and lacked a focal point in the final third, despite having both Richarlison and Dominic Solanke in the matchday squad.
The time has come for the North Londoners to act fast and add a new profile to the squad who could easily compete with Dominic Solanke for a starting eleven spot. Spurs are on the verge of completing a deal for Manchester City star Omar Marmoush this week. The Egypt international offers tactical fluidity and can easily play either on the left wing or as a second striker up top. But it is fair to suggest that Spurs still need an out-and-out #9 who can provide a different dynamic in the final third.
Tottenham miss out on Nicolas Jackson as Aston Villa agree long-term deal
Tottenham are hoping to kickstart a new era under Roberto de Zerbi by bringing in players who would suit the 47-year-old’s playing style. The Lilywhites have spent almost £332m on seven new signings as they look to compete at the top end of the Premier League table. However, the North Londoners are still hoping to complete the rebuild by signing a new striker who can guarantee goals for the club in the coming months.
Recent reports linked Spurs with Chelsea outcast Nicolas Jackson. The Senegal international returned to Stamford Bridge after a successful loan spell at Bayern Munich last season. However, the Bundesliga giants opted not to sign him on a permanent deal earlier last month. As a result, the 25-year-old was put on the chopping block after falling out of Xabi Alonso’s long-term plans at the Bridge, with the Lilywhites and Aston Villa competing for his signature.
It seems as though the North Londoners are all set to miss out on the prolific striker’s signature after pursuing him for most of the summer. As per David Ornstein (via x), Aston Villa have struck an agreement with Chelsea for Nicolas Jackson’s imminent arrival at Villa Park before the transfer window shuts in a few days’ time. The deal is reportedly worth £47.5m, plus £17.5m in achievable add-ons, taking the total figure up to £65m. Personal terms are also being finalised, as Jackson only wanted to reunite with Unai Emery this season.
Spurs need to start looking at other alternatives in the market as they continue to search for a long-term replacement for Richarlison. Recent reports suggest that the Brazilian has been informed by Roberto de Zerbi that he is not included in the Italian tactician’s long-term plans at N17. With only a year remaining on his contract, it will come as no surprise if Richarlison tries to find a new club before the September 1st deadline, with the Lilywhites also remaining keen on cashing in on the 29-year-old.
