Three players have asked to leave Tottenham in this transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Roberto De Zerbi is expecting more business to be completed before the end of the transfer window.
This week, the North London club pulled off the double signing of Savio and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City. More than £350million has been splashed across eight Premier League-proven signings to rebuild a squad that narrowly escaped relegation under Roberto De Zerbi last season.
The lavish spending over the summer has seen several existing players being shoved down the pecking order. However, despite their summer splurge, the Lilywhites have commenced the new campaign with back-to-back defeats. They were crushed by Brentford 3-0 in their season-opener, before Newcastle United ran out 2-0 winners in North London on Saturday.
Roberto De Zerbi reveals three players have asked to leave Tottenham
As well as incomings, there could also be some exits. De Zerbi revealed after the defeat to Newcastle United that three players have asked to leave the club before the transfer window slams shut next week.
“Richarlison, he’s said too many times he wants to leave,” De Zerbi said in his press conference (h/t talkSPORT).
“[Kevin] Danso came to me two days ago, and he said he wants to leave.
“The other player, [Pape Matar] Sarr, is the same but he’s suffered a small injury. But, he’s almost ready to train.”
Busy end to the transfer window expected
The troika were not part of the squad that lost 2-0 to Newcastle. Pape Matar Sarr and Richarlison have been attracting interest this summer, and the pair could get their desired moves.
It recently emerged that Sarr has agreed personal terms with Galatasaray. The Turkish champions have seen their opening bid worth €18m rejected for the Senegalese international, with Spurs valuing him at €25m. Everton are the latest club to show an interest in the 23-year-old, who has not played so far this season with a minor knock.
As for Richarlison, Everton remain admirers and could finally launch a move to re-sign him. However, the latest reports suggest Galatasaray have opened formal negotiations with Spurs over a move for Richarlison, who is in the final year of his contract.
Following the additions of Savio and Marmoush, Spurs currently have 19 non-homegrown players, which exceeds the Premier League limit of 17. By offloading Richarlison, Tottenham would not only free up a key registration slot but also generate funds to pursue deadline targets, such as Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye.
Meanwhile, Kevin Danso wants to leave the club after the additions of Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke. The Austrian’s game time is expected to be limited this season as he has fallen behind Senesi, Van Hecke and Van de Ven in the pecking order. Sunderland tabled an offer to sign Danso on a season-long loan earlier this week, but Spurs have rejected it.
