Nottingham Forest facing a late challenge to keep their 2025/26 Player of the Season amid Tottenham interest

Tottenham are scouring the market for a full-back.

Tottenham Hotspur began the new campaign with plenty of optimism after the biggest summer spend in the club’s history, as they looked to a change in fortunes after narrowly avoiding relegation last term. However, they were given a stark reminder of the quality in the Premier League after back-to-back defeats to Brentford and Newcastle United, respectively.

The signings of Savio and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City has given Roberto De Zerbi’s attack a clear shot in the arm. Add in Mohammed Kudus returning from a long-term quad injury and getting minutes against Newcastle last weekend, and things are looking so much rosier for a Spurs frontline that struggled for creativity and goals last season.

Apart from the club officials working on an agreement to sign Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye, with Richarlison moving in the opposite direction on a separate deal, De Zerbi is also keen to replace Djed Spence in his squad.

Nottingham Forest facing a late challenge to keep star full-back amid Tottenham interest

Tottenham have been exploring a move for Nottingham Forest full-back Neco Williams. The 25-year-old proved a crucial player last season and is expected to play a key role for new manager Oliver Glasner this time around. Despite starting the first two Premier League games, the Wales international’s future at the City Ground does not look secure.

According to iPaper, Nottingham Forest are facing a late challenge to keep hold of Neco Williams. The Forest officials are hopeful that the full-back will sign a new contract, but remain wary of Tottenham circling for their valuable asset.

The Tricky Trees announced the signing of Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace on Monday evening. Munoz has reunited with Glasner after the duo worked brilliantly together at Palace. The Colombian international’s arrival puts Williams’ future under the scanner, providing Spurs a slight encouragement in their hopes of landing the Welshman.

Neco Williams would be a fantastic signing

De Zerbi wants a strong full-back to provide some competition for Pedro Porro. The Spanish World Cup winner started on the right wing against Newcastle with Archie Gray behind him at right-back, but it was an experiment that failed to pay off. It is clear that Porro must return to his natural position next time out, and that Spurs need to bring in a quality right-back to push him.

Williams, in that regard, could be an ideal option for the Lilywhites. The addition of the Welshman would give the squad a further boost, given his versatility, technical ability, pace, energy and solid Premier League experience. He was Forest’s standout performer last term as he picked up the Player of the Season award.

With Munoz making the move to the City Ground, the Tottenham officials must use it as a factor to try and lure Williams to North London before the September 1 transfer deadline.
