Tottenham youngster Mikey Moore is heading to Germany on loan.
Tottenham Hotspur have spent significantly in the summer transfer window, backing head coach Roberto De Zerbi to tackle the challenges in his first full season in North London. The incomings lately have revolved around the attacking unit, with Savio and Omar Marmoush both joining from Manchester City last week.
The signings of Savio and Marmoush has pushed Mikey Moore down the pecking order. FC Koln has been in discussions with Tottenham over the signing of Mikey Moore on a season-long loan in the past couple of weeks. However, Roberto De Zerbi has been reluctant to sanction a move due to a lack of options in wide areas at his disposal.
The teenage prodigy has played in all three games for Spurs this season, including starting in the 3-0 away defeat to Brentford on the opening weekend and against Charlton Athletic in the EFL Cup second round. He opened the scoring with a rasping left-footed drive in the 5-1 win over Charlton Athletic. Moore came on as a second-half substitute in Tottenham’s 2-0 home loss to Newcastle United on Saturday, and it looks likely to be his last appearance in Spurs shirt for now.
FC Koln reach agreement for Tottenham winger Mikey Moore
According to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano on X, FC Koln have reached an agreement with Tottenham to sign Moore. It is a straight season-long loan with no buy option clause. The player has been given the green signal to travel to Germany to undergo medical tests.
Several clubs showed interest in the England youth international, but Koln was always his preferred destination. The North Londoners remain keen to keep the youngster on their books and unlock his potential, which has even led them to reject permanent offers before agreeing to send him on loan to Cologne.
Moore made the most of his time away on loan in Scotland last season, impressing with Rangers. He was named Rangers’ Young Player of the Year for a highly productive and impactful campaign. The speedy winger has now got the chance to clock regular minutes and get more experience under his belt in Germany. The Bundesliga has nurtured several young English talents in recent years, and the Tottenham officials will hope the same happens with Moore.
The 19-year-old is expected to arrive in Germany soon and complete his move to FC Koln before Tuesday’s transfer deadline. Our academy graduate will be hungry and determined to cement a consistent, impactful role in Koln this season.
