Tottenham are considering a surprise late move for Premier League star.
Tottenham Hotspur are set to make a double signing from Chelsea after agreeing deals to take Mykhailo Mudryk on loan and buy Tosin Adarabioyo.
The move for Mudryk will reunite Roberto De Zerbi with a player he coached at Shakhtar Donetsk before the winger was sold to Chelsea in 2023. However, he only returned from a 20-month suspension last month and found himself way down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. The Ukrainian international’s loan will include a £75m option to make the deal permanent.
Meanwhile, Tosin is set to join for a fee of £7m, a deal which frees up Kevin Danso to join Sunderland on loan. The North Londoners are understood to be not stopping in their spending spree and are exploring a late move for a talented full-back.
Tottenham exploring late move for Nottingham Forest star
According to reliable journalist Alasdair Gold, Tottenham are weighing up whether to make a deadline-day move for Nottingham Forest full-back Neco Williams, who is said to be open to plying his trade in North London. However, Nottingham Forest are holding firm in their stance that the player won’t be sold on deadline day.
Neco Williams has been a part of the furniture at City Ground since 2022. The Wales international has established himself as one of the reliable full-backs in the Premier League, racking up 163 appearances in all competitions for Nottingham Forest in all competitions. The 25-year-old was a key part of Forest’s side that reached the semi-finals of the Europa League last season, registering six goal contributions across 53 outings.
The Tricky Trees signed full-back Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace on Monday, a move that has reunited the 30-year-old with manager Oliver Glasner. Following Munoz’s arrival, the Tottenham officials may see a window of opportunity to sign Williams. Alasdair Gold claims that the North Londoners ‘really like’ Williams, who has started the first two Premier League games this season and won a decisive penalty in Forest’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Saturday.
Tottenham face race against time to sign Williams
The sale of Djed Spence to Inter Milan has left De Zerbi with only Pedro Porro as the recognised right-back. Porro’s deputy is currently Archie Gray, and while the youngster has shown encouraging signs over the last two years, many would argue he is best suited in central midfield. And that argument could be backed up with Gray’s struggles at right-back in both league games against Brentford and Newcastle United.
This is why Williams’ signing would make complete sense. At 25, the Welshman is at the stage of his career to make the step up, and a move to Spurs would be ideal for his further development. He is Premier League-proven, versatile, robust and a leader, qualities that would align well with De Zerbi’s side.
However, Forest maintain that the defender isn’t for sale at this stage of the window. The Tottenham boss may ultimately be forced to make do and work with what he has in his squad, before potentially returning for Williams in January.
