Fabrizio Romano gives ‘Here We Go’ for Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo to Tottenham.
Tottenham Hotspur have been eyeing another attacking addition on the final day of the transfer window after the signings of Savio and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City last week.
After Liverpool star Cody Gakpo rejected a move to Spurs, the N17 chiefs quickly identified Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye as his alternative. Tottenham and Everton quickly reached an agreement for Ndiaye, only for Manchester City to swoop in and hijack a move for the Senegal international after their failed pursuit of Cody Gakpo.
Our supporters were taken aback when reports emerged of Spurs wanting to sign Chelsea out Mykhaylo Mudryk on loan. Well, Mudryk isn’t the only Chelsea player to have caught Tottenham’s attention. Tosin Adarabioyo also emerged on Tottenham’s radar at the start of the week after it became clear that Kevin Danso wants to leave the club and join Sunderland on loan.
Tottenham get ‘here we go’ for Tosin Adarabioyo
According to transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano on X, Tottenham have reached an agreement with Chelsea for Tosin Adarabioyo. The transfer package is worth £7 million plus add-ons, with the defender having already agreed personal terms with the Lilywhites.
Tosin will make the move to N17 as a replacement for Danso, who is heading to Sunderland on a season-long loan with an option to buy. Spurs were previously looking to secure a loan move for the Nigerian international when they first expressed interest in the centre‑back. However, their pursuit of Mudryk forced the Lilywhites into a permanent transfer due to Premier League loan rules.
A club cannot take two players on loan from the same team, resulting in the permanent transfer of the 28-year-old. Tosin arrives at White Hart Lane with strong Premier League experience, having racked up close to 120 appearances. A former Man City youth product, he was limited to only 16 Premier League appearances for Chelsea last season due to poor form and several injury problems.
Tosin arrives at White Hart Lane as a back-up to Jan Paul van Hecke. The former Fulham star’s signing makes sense as a replacement for Danso, whilst he also keeps De Zerbi’s squad depth intact.
