Tottenham forward Richarlison is attracting interest from the Turkish Super Lig.
Richarlison has been linked with leaving Tottenham Hotspur on numerous occasions since a £60million move from Everton in 2022.
Ravaged by injury issues at several junctures, he has been unable to show his best form and live up to the lofty expectations of the White Hart Lane faithful across four seasons. The Brazilian international, however, did bag 11 crucial Premier League goals last campaign with the Lilywhites narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day under Roberto De Zerbi.
This summer, Richarlison finally looked set to return to Everton in a deal which could have seen Iliman Ndiaye join Tottenham. The centre-forward ultimately refused to make the move, and a return to the Toffees for him did not get over the line.
Tottenham’s signing of Ndiaye collapsed due to Richarlison failing to agree to a return to Everton, and that led to major backlash from certain sections of our fanbase on social media. The forward took to social media to slam the Spurs fans who criticised him for not greenlighting the move to Everton. That has created a potentially uncomfortable situation for him in N17.
Trabzonspor planning to sign Richarlison
While the summer transfer window for the Premier League and major European leagues officially closed on Tuesday night, the forward could still seal an exit from Tottenham. The Turkish window does not close until September 4, 2026, which gives their clubs an opportunity to recruit players.
Now, according to reliable Turkish journalist Yağiz Sabuncuoğlu on X, Trabzonspor are attempting to sign Richarlison before the Turkish window deadline. The Turkish outfit have submitted an offer for the 29-year-old, and the player is ‘warm’ to the offer. There is no agreement between the clubs as of now.
The Super Lig club made the marquee signing of Mohamed Salah from Liverpool during the summer transfer window. Linking up with Salah in Senol Gunes Sports Complex could well excite the Tottenham star, who is in the final year of his contract at White Hart Lane. Richarlison will also get an opportunity to play in Europe, with the Claret and Blues set to compete in the Conference League after they were knocked out of the Europa League playoff round.
Following the signing of Omar Marmoush on loan from Manchester City, coupled with the presence of Dominic Solanke, Richarlison’s opportunities will be limited at Spurs. So, the Brazilian’s desire for a new chapter isn’t surprising. Now all eyes will be on whether Trabzonspor can reach an agreement with Tottenham for the forward before the September 4 deadline.
