Tottenham could revisit a move for Bournemouth forward in January.
Tottenham Hotspur have concluded their most productive transfer window under Roberto De Zerbi. It was a record-breaking transfer window which completely transformed the squad, with over £300 million spent on 10 major new players.
Spurs wrapped up their transfer business with the acquisitions of Tosin Adarabioyo and Mykhaylo Mudryk from Chelsea on deadline day. Defender Tosin has joined on a permanent transfer, while Mudryk landed at White Hart Lane on a season-long loan to further bolster De Zerbi’s attack unit.
Tottenham were also keen on signing Bournemouth forward Eli Kroupi Junior during the summer transfer window. The Frenchman was the North Londoners’ top striker target, until he suffered a major injury setback. The youngster sustained a foot injury in training that led to surgery, ruling him out of action for three to four months.
Nonetheless, De Zerbi remains an admirer of Eli Junior Kroupi and could push Spurs to revive their interest in him in January. However, a deal for the player could prove tough to pull off for the Lilywhites in the future.
Tottenham could face competition from Arsenal for Bournemouth forward
According to an exclusive report from CaughtOffside, Arsenal hold an interest in Kroupi. While they were unable to sign him during the summer transfer window, the Gunners are expected to revisit the situation once he returns to full fitness. They view the player as a long-term attacking target rather than an immediate signing.
The report adds Manchester United and Liverpool are also keeping a close eye on the 20-year-old’s situation. Thus, it appears Spurs could face an uphill task if they intend to resurrect their interest in the Bournemouth starlet in the 2027 winter transfer window.
Kroupi enjoyed a breakout season in English football last term, netting 13 goals in 33 league appearances for Bournemouth. The French prodigy made life difficult for defenders with his trickery, pace, elusive movement and unpredictability. At 20, the forward’s composure in front of goal belies his age.
Has Omar Marmoush signing ended Tottenham’s pursuit of Kroupi?
After Kroupi got injured in July, the N17 chiefs relentlessly searched for his alternative. Eventually, they settled on Omar Marmoush. The Egyptian international has joined on loan from Manchester City, although Spurs have an obligation to buy for £50m + £10m in add-ons next summer.
Perhaps Marmoush’s acquisition has ended the Lilywhites’ pursuit of the highly-rated Kroupi. It thus appears unlikely that the Tottenham bosses would be in a position to spend big on a forward when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
