Tottenham forward Richarlison has agreed personal terms with Turkish club Trabzonspor.
Roberto De Zerbi revealed last week that Richarlison, Pape Matar Sarr and Kevin Danso were three players who wanted to leave Tottenham Hotspur before the summer transfer deadline.
Sarr and Danso have managed to seal their moves away from N17. Sarr joined Juventus on a season-long loan with a conditional obligation to buy, and Danso moved to Sunderland in a deal that includes a similar framework. However, Richarlison failed to get his desired move away from Tottenham.
The Brazilian international was primed to return to Everton after four years. However, Everton couldn’t meet Tottenham’s asking price and also had problems covering Richarlison’s salary. The financial package was simply too much. While the summer transfer window has closed in major European leagues, there is still a chance for the 29-year-old to leave Spurs. This is because the Turkish window is open until September 4, with Trabzonspor trying to secure his signing.
Richarlison agrees personal terms with Trabzonspor
Trabzonspor reportedly tabled an offer for Richarlison on Wednesday evening, and the forward has been ‘warm’ to the idea of joining them.
Now, according to transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano on X, Tottenham have rejected two bids worth £15m and £20m from Trabzonspor for Richarlison. A new proposal is anticipated from the Turkish club, with the Brazilian having agreed terms on a lucrative deal to join Trabzonspor. They want Richy as a ‘priority’.
Richarlison will triple his salary if he makes the move to Trabzonspor, who want to pair him up with former Liverpool star Mohamed Salah. The Claret and Blue want to bolster their attacking options following a period of significant upheaval both on the pitch and in the dugout. The Super Lig side are currently looking for a new head coach after parting ways with Fatih Tekke.
Amid the search for a new manager, Trabzonspor want another marquee name after signing Salah. Richarlison appears to be that player. The 29-year-old has slipped down the attacking pecking order in North London under Roberto De Zerbi after Omar Marmoush’s loan move from Manchester City. While he was the club’s top scorer last season with 12 goals, the forward is in the final year of his contract, and Spurs want to cash him in now.
Clubs in Turkey have until Friday, September 4, to sign players. So, they still have plenty of time to get a deal for Richarlison over the line as long as they agree a fee with Spurs. All in all, it looks like the South American star might get the move he desperately craves.
