Showing immense character away from home continues to define the academy setup as the young Lilywhites fought back to preserve their unbeaten start.

Tottenham Women Under 19s preserved their unbeaten start to the brand new campaign on Wednesday afternoon after fighting back to secure a hard earned 1-1 draw against London City Lionesses in the Professional Game Academy League. Following a tense weekend point against rivals Arsenal, the young Lilywhites travelled to Kent for their third demanding fixture in just seven days.

The opening forty five minutes proved to be an attritional stalemate, with early physical disruption forcing Northwood on for Ordean inside five minutes before Abeka replaced Prosser before the break. The home side finally broke the deadlock five minutes after the restart, but the visitors refused to drop their heads. Spurs quickly regrouped, introducing Aramide and Summers Mee from the bench before bagging a deserved equaliser just after the hour mark.

Matt Sharman Demands Even More Despite Impressive Resilience

Head coach Matt Sharman saw his side push relentlessly for a winner across the closing stages, cementing a proud return of five points from their opening three games across all competitions. Speaking to club media after the final whistle, Sharman praised the response from his young squad while acknowledging the heavy fixture congestion.

“I thought we started the game slowly and you could probably see at times that it was our third game in seven days, but as the game went on, we started to find our feet and have more of an impact on the game,” Sharman explained. The tactician added, “The big positive for me was the effort and togetherness from the group. Even when we went 1-0 down, we showed good character to find a way back into the game.”

Sharman made it clear the dressing room remains hungry for far higher standards, noting they are proud of the result but not fully satisfied with the performance across the full ninety minutes. With another fixture arriving this Sunday, the development pipeline at Hotspur Way continues to display the grit, technical quality, and tactical maturity required to make a lasting impression in North London.
