The new signing came off the bench for his Tottenham debut vs. Nottingham Forest.
Tottenham Hotspur supporters were astonished when the club announced the signings of Mykhailo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo in a double deal from Chelsea on transfer deadline day.
Mykhailo Mudryk has reunited with Roberto De Zerbi in N17, with the duo having worked together at Shakhtar Donetsk. The winger last played in a Chelsea shirt in November 2024 after being suspended for off-field matters. He was involved in some pre-season games for Chelsea, but coach Xabi Alonso and his backroom staff decided it’d be best for the 25-year-old to go out on loan and regain match fitness.

Mykhailo Mudryk breaks silence after making Tottenham debut
After signing for Tottenham last week, Roberto De Zerbi said that Mudryk is ready to play a part against Nottingham Forest. The Ukrainian international came off the bench in the 74th minute during Tottenham’s 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest at The City Ground on Saturday.
The 25-year-old expressed his immense joy at returning to competitive football after making his brief cameo in a Spurs shirt. He took to Instagram to share his thoughts. “No feeling better to be back on the pitch. First minutes in new colours. Thanks for the support, furthermore.” (h/t Football London)
It was Mudryk’s first competitive outing in 646 days, and the joy is totally justified. The Ukrainian will want to repay his faith to De Zerbi after the Spurs boss made an eyebrow-raising decision to bring him to White Hart Lane from bitter rivals Chelsea. De Zerbi got the best out of the winger at Shakhtar Donetsk and even backed him to win the Ballon d’Or one day.
While things haven’t gone as per the plan, the Italian tactician has now got the player under his wings again. Mudryk needs not only match sharpness and rhythm, but also someone who can lift his confidence levels. And De Zerbi may be the right man to manage the Chelsea loanee at this critical juncture of his career, give him confidence and provide an environment to unlock Mudryk’s true potential at a high level.
For now, the ex-Shakhtar Donetsk man is expected to be limited to cameo roles as he builds up his match fitness and rhythm. If Mudryk starts delivering impactful performances off the bench, it won’t be long before he gets the nod to start ahead of Mathys Tel on the left flank.
