Tottenham have continued to monitor a highly-rated striker who is making waves in the Belgium Pro League.
Tottenham Hotspur spent aggressively in the past summer transfer window, bringing in as many as 10 new players. On deadline day, they recruited Mykhaylo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea.
Roberto De Zerbi’s demands to add creativity, pace and goals were also fulfilled by the hierarchy with the signings of Savio, Omar Marmoush and Mudryk. Spurs struggled for a regular supply of goals last season, netting only 48 times in 38 Premier League games.
Richarlison was the club’s top scorer with 12 goals in all competitions, but he is expected to leave in the coming days amid interest from Brazilian clubs. That would leave De Zerbi with Dominic Solanke and Marmoush as the only striker options, but whether those two would be enough to solve the team’s goalscoring problems remains to be seen.
Before the North London club decided to proceed with Marmoush, they had several strikers on their radar. One of those was Club Brugge’s Nicolo Tresoldi.
Tottenham scout Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi in the Champions League
Nicolo Tresoldi was the top goalscorer in the Belgian Pro League last season, helping Club Brugge lift the league title. He contributed 23 goals and nine assists in all competitions. The youngster has started the new campaign well with three goals in five league appearances for Club Brugge.
According to an exclusive report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham had representatives to watch Tresoldi in action for Club Brugge against Aston Villa on Tuesday night. He made an impact by scoring a penalty, but Club Brugge were beaten 3-2 by Aston Villa in Belgium.
Tresoldi has swiftly established himself as one of the most exciting attacking prospects in Europe since moving from Hannover to Brugge. Despite heavy interest from some of Europe’s top clubs, the Italy-born centre-forward decided to stay with Brugge and continue his development.
The Germany Under-21 international seems destined for a move to a big European club after enjoying a meteoric rise in the Belgium Pro League. The striker is very young and developing with high potential, someone who’d be a smart long-term investment for Tottenham. Tresoldi could be an exciting option to potentially replace Richarlison, whilst improving the potency of Spurs’ attack.
If he continues to excel at Brugge, both domestically and in Europe, there’s no reason why the North Londoners shouldn’t compete with several other clubs for Tresoldi’s signature in 2027.
