Two Brazilian clubs are showing interest in signing Tottenham outcast Richarlison.
Richarlison faces a big decision over his future over the coming weeks after being left out of Tottenham Hotspur’s 25-man Premier League squad.
The Brazilian international, who has seemingly played his final Spurs game, has reached the final days of a transfer saga that has left him with no obvious exit. The forward’s options to leave White Hart Lane are dwindling day by day.
Trabzonspor were interested in signing Richarlison, but they failed to meet Tottenham’s valuation, and the Turkish transfer window closed last week. After links to the Turkish Super Lig have died down, Saudi Pro League emerged as a possible destination for the 29-year-old.
Despite suggestions that the Saudi window remains open until next month, reliable journalist Alasdair Gold has shared that the league itself announced on Sunday evening that the window is shut and no more signings would be allowed. Yet, there could still be a saving grace for the Tottenham outcast.
Brazilian club revive interest in Richarlison
According to Brazilian journalist Guilherme Frossard (h/t Sport Witness), Vasco da Gama have revived their interest in Richarlison, but they could face competition from a fellow Brazilian club. Atletico Mineiro have entered the race for the player’s signature. They have contacted the forward’s representatives to understand the conditions required to sign him on loan.
However, Vasco da Gama are currently ahead of Atletico Mineiro in the race. Returning to Brazil at this stage wasn’t previously in the plans of Richarlison or his representatives, as they wanted to move to the Turkish Super Lig. However, Frossard claims (h/t Sport Witness) that the position could now be reconsidered.
The South American cannot sit on the periphery of the White Hart Lane for the next four months. He has to play regularly, especially if the centre-forward harbours hopes of representing his national team under Carlo Ancelotti, who had snubbed him from Brazil’s 2026 World Cup.
However, time appears to be the biggest villain for the player and his entourage. The Brazilian transfer window slams shut on September 11, and we might see the battle between Vasco and Atletico heat up in the next 24 hours. After doors from the Turkish Super Lig and Saudi Pro League were closed, a move back to his homeland provides Richarlison with the best possible escape route from Tottenham.
