Tottenham face genuine competition from PL rivals for Club Brugge striker who recently scored against Aston Villa

Tottenham are keen on adding more firepower in the final third of the pitch under Roberto De Zerbi.

Tottenham are yet to win a game from their opening three matches in the Premier League. The performances have slowly but surely improved in recent weeks, but there are still some underlying problems that need to be addressed before it gets too late for Roberto De Zerbi. More than anything else, the Lilywhites need to focus on finding the back of the net in the upcoming matches, with De Zerbi’s men being one of only three sides yet to score a single goal in the league this season, alongside Aston Villa and Coventry City.

The North Londoners did well to bring in attacking reinforcements during the business end of the transfer window. The likes of Mykhailo Mudryk, Savio, and Omar Marmoush were brought in to bolster the frontline and help the club compete at the top end of the league table. However, it is fair to suggest that all three players will need some time to find their feet at N17 after securing their high-profile moves in the summer.

Spurs are lacking a main focal point in the final third of the pitch this season. Having scored only 48 goals in 38 Premier League matches last season, fans would have hoped to see a new out-and-out goalscorer added to the ranks in the summer. To make matters worse, Roberto de Zerbi cannot even rely on Richarlison for his output this season, with the Brazilian being linked with a premature exit from N17 in the coming days.

Tottenham need to act fast to land Nicolo Tresoldi

It comes as no surprise that Tottenham are still actively looking at centre-forwards who could be brought in at N17 midway through the season. It would be risky to depend solely on Dominic Solanke to play as an out-and-out #9 for the entire campaign. The England international is too injury-prone and has not featured regularly for the Lilywhites since the start of last season. On the other hand, depending on Omar Marmoush to fill the void up top may or may not work out, as the 27-year-old is still finding his feet at Hotspur Way.

Recent reports have linked Spurs with Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tressoldi. The Lilywhites reportedly sent representatives to watch the prolific forward take the field against Aston Villa in the Champions League on Tuesday night. It proved to be a successful scouting trip for those in attendance, as the Germany U-21 international managed to convert his penalty in his side’s 2-3 defeat to Unai Emery’s men.

However, Spurs will need to act fast if they are to land the talented forward in the coming months. As per TEAMtalk, Manchester United representatives were also in attendance to watch Nicolo Tresoldi take the field against Aston Villa this week. The Red Devils are keen to add more firepower in the final third, with Joshua Zirkzee expected to head for the exit doors midway through the campaign. The Red Devils view Tresoldi as a genuine replacement who could also act as an understudy to Benjamin Sesko at Old Trafford.

Should Tottenham go all-in?

Nicolo Tresoldi is already making his mark in Europe by consistently finding the back of the net during his time at Club Brugge. The talented forward helped his side lift the Belgian Pro League last season, scoring 23 goals in all competitions under Ivan Leko. He has continued that same goalscoring trend this season, bagging three goals in five appearances. As a result, the 22-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in Europe since making the switch to Club Brugge.

Signing the Germany U-21 international makes complete sense for Spurs. He would be an ideal replacement for Richarlison and could provide some much-needed competition in the final third under Roberto de Zerbi. Not only that, but Tresoldi would also add a different dynamic up top, thanks to his explosive pace, elite finishing, and excellent hold-up play. At 22, the talented forward also has plenty of time to reach his true potential and become one of the leading names in European football.
