Omar Marmoush urges patience amid goal scarcity: “Once It Clicks, the Wins Will Start Coming Step by Step”

Omar Marmoush urges Tottenham to remain calm and patient as Spurs look to end their historic Premier League goal drought.

Summer signing Omar Marmoush has called for composure and collective patience as Tottenham Hotspur work to overcome an unprecedented start to their Premier League campaign. Following a 0-0 draw against Everton that left Spurs goalless through their opening four league fixtures, the Egyptian international insisted that confidence remains high inside the dressing room despite public anxiety surrounding the team’s 360-minute goal drought.

Speaking about his adaptation to North London and working under head coach Roberto De Zerbi, as reported by journalist Chris Cowlin on X, Marmoush praised the quality of the squad and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he has received since joining late in the summer transfer window.

“I believe we have an amazing team, you know, top quality, honestly. I’m very happy to be starting and playing. I try to listen to what Roberto says and what he demands, not from me only, from the whole team. The lads here are very nice people, everyone in the club has welcomed me so warmly, so they made it much easier to settle and hopefully here’s to many more starts and wins more importantly.”

Marmoush featured alongside Dominic Solanke in an attacking setup against Everton, creating moments of threat but failing to convert key opportunities into goals. Reflecting on the stalemate, the forward acknowledged his own missed chance during the match while urging his teammates not to let pressure undermine their decision-making in front of goal.

“If you review the last game, you see positive moments where we look strong and once that clicks, not just in moments of the game but most of the game, and it starts to get rolling, the wins will start coming step by step. Last game I had a big chance I could have scored and a few decisions that if I made better, it would have ended in a goal but, in regard of scoring goals, you have to just keep going at it and stay with the basics.”

“Don’t be too hectic, not so pressured to score goals because that will never happen if you just keep thinking about it. Just we’re all working, all of us. We know we haven’t scored any goals in the league, so we’re working hard on that.”

Trusting the Adaptation Process Ahead of Critical Anfield Test

Marmoush’s late arrival in the transfer window meant he missed Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Australia, where several teammates suffered injuries that further disrupted physical conditioning across the squad. Acknowledging that adapting to De Zerbi’s complex tactical system takes time, Marmoush stressed that building a successful team requires patience during this transitional phase.

“We know that we need time in order to achieve big things because it’s a new phase, so it always needs to take time and not everything functions suddenly. All of us are trying to achieve something together, and we’re trying to progress every day, become better in each and every small detail of the game, and the group feeling is very positive.”

With Tottenham preparing for a demanding midweek trip to face Liverpool at Anfield in the Carabao Cup, Marmoush’s positive outlook echoes the defensive stability built by Jan Paul van Hecke and Micky van de Ven. As De Zerbi looks to rotate his squad and unblock Spurs’ attacking output, Marmoush will be eager to play a pivotal role in delivering Tottenham’s first competitive goal of the season.
