Tottenham in a three-horse race for Inter Milan star who has netted 53 goals for the Serie A giants

Tottenham are keen on reinforcing their forward line during the winter transfer window.

Last weekend’s stalemate against Everton meant that Tottenham Hotspur remain winless in the Premier League this season. They are one of only two teams yet to find the back of the net this campaign, with newly-promoted side Coventry City being the other.

Not many fans would have expected Spurs to start the 2026/27 campaign on such a dismal note, especially considering that the club spent more than £300m on ten new players during the summer transfer window. However, despite the poor start and the team’s inability to find the back of the net, it is still early days to press on the panic buttons at N17. Slowly but surely, the performances are improving, and Roberto De Zerbi is beginning to find the right balance within his squad.

Scoring goals is the biggest concern staring in the eyes of De Zerbi, who tried to mix things up against Everton and played Omar Marmoush behind Dominic Solanke to break the duck. However, it did not work out, as Spurs were held to a goalless draw by Everton.

To solve the Lilywhites’ goalscoring conundrum, it looks like the Hotspur Way chiefs have started planning behind the scenes for the January transfer window.

Tottenham in a three-horse race for Inter Milan star

According to a report from Football 360, Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram has emerged as a target for Tottenham ahead of the January window. Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also evaluating the French forward.

An unnamed Saudi Arabian club prepared a €60m proposal for Marcus Thuram, and even approached his representatives with a lucrative salary package. However, despite the big money on offer, the 29-year-old rejected the proposal as he wants to continue spending the best years of his career in Europe.

The France international has been a key player for Inter Milan since arriving on a free transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2023, netting 53 goals in 144 appearances. He has won four trophies with the Nerazzurri, including two Serie A titles.

A player of Thuram’s quality, experience, versatility and winning mentality could make a huge difference for Tottenham. The former Borussia Monchengladbach man can operate in multiple attacking positions, create and score goals in equal measure and bring leadership skills. However, without European football, it will be difficult for Tottenham to tempt Thuram to N17.
