Tottenham have managed only two points from their opening five Premier League games.
After back-to-back 17th-placed finishes in the Premier League and only avoiding relegation last season by the skin of their teeth on the final day of the campaign, things were expected to get better under Roberto De Zerbi, particularly after splashing out more than £300million on ten new signings this summer.
However, Tottenham Hotspur have endured a disastrous start to the 2026/27 Premier League campaign, sitting at the bottom of the table five games into the season. Spurs tasted their third defeat of the Premier League season already on Saturday, losing 3-2 to Aston Villa at home, which piled pressure on Roberto De Zerbi’s job in hand.
Back-to-back clean sheets against Nottingham Forest and Everton meant the Lilywhites had appeared to shore up their defence prior to the Aston Villa disaster, although creating and scoring goals remain the biggest problems for the Italian boss. Signing a striker could be one of their next priorities, with Richarlison frozen out of the Premier League squad and Dominic Solanke with form and fitness since last year.
Tottenham showing interest in AC Milan talent
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are among a host of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the situation of the talented forward Francesco Camarda at AC Milan. Manchester City, Chelsea, Brentford and Brighton are all circling the teenager, while Manchester United and Liverpool remain admirers too.
Francesco Camarda became the youngest player in Serie A history when he made his AC Milan debut against Fiorentina in November 2023 at just 15 years and 260 days old. He later became the youngest Italian player to appear in the Champions League at 16 years and 226 days. The striker spent last season on loan at Lecce, who eventually exercised the buy option, only for the Rossoneri to immediately activate their buy-back clause and bring the youngster back to the San Siro.
However, the Italian’s lack of involvement in the first team under Ruben Amorim has put several clubs on red alert. He has played just eight minutes of Serie A football across two appearances this season, leaving Camarda, his camp and Milan to make a decision on his future. They must all be aware that the teenager’s development could be affected if he continues to be used sporadically by Amorim.
From Tottenham’s perspective, Camarda will be an excellent long-term investment. A young striker with high upside may not only potentially replace Will Lankshear in the squad but also compete with the likes of Solanke and Marmoush for a starting berth under De Zerbi. However, it is worth noting that Milan recently secured the striker’s long-term future by extending his contract until June 2031, with the club also holding an option for an additional year.
The 18-year-old remains one of the most talked-about young forwards in the Italian circuit, and there is no indication from the Rossoneri that they are actively seeking to move him on.
