The Lilywhites demonstrated immense character on the road this Wednesday afternoon to secure a brilliant comeback victory in the southwest.
The N17 faithful will be absolutely delighted with the incredible fighting spirit displayed by the youth squad. The Tottenham Hotspur Women Under 19 side secured a vital 2-1 away victory against Bristol City. Earning maximum points in this fiercely competitive Professional Game Academy League clash provides a massive confidence boost.
Bouncing back from recent disappointment was the primary objective for the travelling youth squad heading into this fixture. The highly rated prospects suffered their very first defeat of the campaign against Ipswich Town earlier this month. The coaching staff challenged the players to produce a strong response away from home.
The match initially began as a frustrating affair for the ambitious visitors. The Robins snatched the advantage by opening the scoring just five minutes before half time. However, the North Londoners refused to crumble under the mounting pressure. The squad immediately formulated an aggressive response to the unexpected setback.
Quickfire Double Stuns The Hosts
Talented prospect Poppy Neill provided the crucial spark right on the stroke of half time. She grabbed her first goal of the current campaign to drag the visitors level. That vital equaliser completely shifted the momentum before the referee blew his whistle for the break.
The drama escalated even further deep into first half stoppage time. Forward Grace Bellwood stepped up two minutes past the regulation forty five to fire her team into the lead. The promising attacker was making her first start of the season following a frustrating injury layoff late last term.
That composed finish marked her opening account for the season and ultimately sealed all three points. “Those goals proved to be enough,” official club media reported, as the youngsters managed the second half expertly. Securing this result required complete concentration and discipline across the entire defensive unit.
Developing a strong winning mentality remains a top priority for the academy at Hotspur Way. These players regularly prove they possess the required fortitude.
