Tottenham are prepared to sell their top scorer from last season for £15M-£20M in January after the Brazilian forward was excluded from their Premier League squad.
Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to cut their losses on Richarlison and sanction his departure for a significantly reduced fee when the transfer window reopens in January. The North London club is reportedly ready to accept offers in the region of £15M to £20M to facilitate a swift mid-season exit for the Brazilian forward.
According to a report from Football Insider, highlighted by Transfer News Live on X, Tottenham had previously agreed a £35M deal with Everton for Richarlison during the summer transfer window. However, after that proposed move failed to reach completion before the deadline, Spurs hierarchy revised their financial demands downwards to ensure a resolution can be reached during the upcoming winter market.
Excluded from Premier League Squad Registration
Richarlison’s standing at Hotspur Way has deteriorated significantly in recent months, culminating in his complete omission from Tottenham’s registered Premier League squad for the 2026/27 campaign. Having fallen out of manager Roberto De Zerbi’s tactical plans, the 29-year-old forward who top-scored for Tottenham last season finds himself entirely sidelined from competitive league action.
With no realistic pathway back into the first-team fold under De Zerbi, a mid-season departure is now viewed as the necessary step for both player and club. Remaining in North London without playing time threatens to further diminish the Brazilian international’s market value ahead of future transfer windows.
Accepting a fee between £15M and £20M represents a steep financial write-down compared to the £35M sum agreed with Everton just months ago. Nevertheless, removing Richarlison’s substantial salary package from the wage bill is seen as a strategic necessity as Spurs prepare for a crucial January window.
With Tottenham currently struggling near the bottom of the Premier League table in 20th place, reclaiming squad space and wage capacity will provide De Zerbi and the recruiting team much-needed flexibility. Offloading the outcast forward will allow the club to redirect funds towards target areas that directly strengthen the squad for the second half of the season.
