Tottenham could well with a boost after a disappointing start to the season.
Tottenham Hotspur were dealt a setback during the international break when Jan Paul van Hecke withdrew from the Netherlands camp due to an injury. Netherlands boss Xavi Hernandez gave an update on the central defender on Thursday afternoon, which should concern Roberto De Zerbi and the supporters.
Spurs have endured a torrid start to the season, picking up only two points from five games. Roberto De Zerbi could do with some boost to get Tottenham’s season on track, and there is a chance of him getting one.
Recent reports suggest Dejan Kulusevski could be named in the Tottenham matchday squad in the coming weeks if he does not suffer any more setbacks. Given that Kulusevski has been out of action for more than 500 days, the coaching staff and medical team are being extremely cautious with the creative midfielder. That said, it appears that the Swedish international may not be the only attacker who De Zerbi could have available for selection sooner than expected.
Tottenham get encouraging Wilson Odobert injury update
Wilson Odobert has been out with an ACL injury since February. He sustained a devastating knee injury in Tottenham’s 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United, which proved to be Thomas Frank’s final game in charge.
Before his ACL rupture, the French winger had made 33 appearances in all competitions in the 2025/26 season. He is believed to be back in light training ahead of a return before the end of the year. Now, an injury update on the youngster has emerged.
According to LeN17ah on X, who is an assistant physio at an EFL Club, Wilson Odobert could be back in first-team training at some point this month, with a return to the pitch on the cards for November.
It was initially believed Odobert may not return to the pitch until the start of 2027, but the speedy winger has been named in Tottenham’s 25-man Premier League squad. While the EFL Club’s assistant physio may not have provided an exact date for the 21-year-old’s return, it does suggest he is ahead of schedule in his recovery.
Tottenham are prepared to be very patient with the France Under-21 international, given that it is an ACL rupture. While one can understand why those in N17 are managing their expectations on the Odobert, his return, whenever it happens, could certainly be timely for De Zerbi’s team as they are struggling for pace, unpredictability and creativity.
