Tottenham among clubs chasing Bundesliga attacker ‘who plays a bit like Neymar’

Tottenham are firmly in the mix to sign Scandinavian talent from the Bundesliga.

Tottenham Hotspur had one of the busiest transfer windows in recent memory this summer, bringing in ten new faces to back head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

To address the creativity and goalscoring issues, the Lilywhites brought in Savio, Omar Marmoush and Mykhailo Mudryk. Unfortunately, Mudryk got injured after making his first appearance for the club, while Savio and Marmoush have yet to register a goal contribution in the Premier League. Overall, Spurs have been extremely poor and sit at the bottom of the Premier League table after five games, with zero wins and just two goals scored.

With plenty of question marks over how the North Londoners are going to improve in attack to start climbing the table, a new striker is expected to be targeted once again when the transfer window reopens. Moreover, the N17 bosses also appear to be keeping tabs on a winger.

Tottenham eye move for RB Leipzig sensation

Spurs were reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa, who plays a bit like Neymar, during the summer transfer window. However, the player publicly addressed speculation surrounding his future, shutting down suggestions over a potential move away from RB Leipzig.

Antonio Nusa caught the eye with his exploits during this summer’s World Cup. He formed a dangerous front three alongside Erling Haaland and Andreas Schjelderup for Norway, who memorably knocked Brazil out of the round of 16 before eventually losing to England in the quarter-finals.

The 21-year-old has brought that form into the Bundesliga, where he has registered two goals and as many assists in four appearances this season. The winger’s sparkling form in RB Leipzig colours hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Now, according to a report from German outlet Fussball News, Tottenham are among clubs showing the strongest interest in Nusa. Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also monitoring his situation, while several major clubs from Italy and Spain have been linked with the Norwegian international.

Arsenal are contemplating an opening proposal worth around €40 million. However, RB Leipzig are believed to want between €60m and €65m before considering letting their valuable asset depart. Nusa has three more years to run on his contract, which means the Bundesliga club are in a strong position to dictate the youngster’s future.

From Spurs’ perspective, De Zerbi has limited options on the left flank due to long-term injuries to Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert. And with Mathys Tel showing no signs of improvement, De Zerbi might be forced to sign an upgrade on the Frenchman. And Nusa could just be that player.

The Scandinavian sensation could be a difference-maker in Tottenham’s attack thanks to his pace, guile, unpredictability and dribbling ability. However, Nusa’s public comments in August, combined with Leipzig’s steep valuation and strong interest from European clubs, presents a major obstacle for the Lilywhites.
