Tottenham are planning to invest in a striker in the January transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur showed great ambition and intent in the transfer window to bounce back from a disastrous 2025/26 season. They brought in 10 new faces to reboot Roberto De Zerbi’s side, which narrowly escaped relegation last term.
But so far this season, the north London club have been extremely underwhelming and sit at the foot of the Premier League table after five games, with zero wins and just two goals scored. Tottenham’s issues in front of goal have been laid bare this season.
Summer signing Omar Marmoush has struggled massively to make an impact, and his best position is playing off a more traditional nine, rather than spearheading the attack by himself. Dominic Solanke has looked out of sorts across five league appearances, and Richarlison remains currently out of favour.

Tottenham monitoring Club Brugge goalscoring machine
It has been widely reported that Spurs have already started scouring the market for a new No.9 ahead of the January window to address their issues in front of goal. One player who Tottenham were interested in signing in the previous transfer window was Club Brugge’s Nicolo Tresoldi.
Nicolo Tresoldi enjoyed a strong 2025/26 season with Club Brugge, netting 23 goals and chipping in with nine assists in 58 appearances. The 22-year-old has shown his scoring prowess again this season with five goals in nine outings, alerting numerous top clubs again.
Now, according to a report from Flashscore, Tottenham are continuing to keep tabs on Tresoldi as they assess various options ahead of the winter window. Aston Villa also remain interested in the centre-forward, whose contract in Bruges runs until 2029. The Germany Under-21 international’s displays in Club Brugge’s upcoming Champions League fixtures against Inter Milan and Liverpool could be particularly crucial for Spurs and Aston Villa in deciding whether to ratify their interest.
Tresoldi has shown he can score all kinds of goals in the Belgian Pro League and in Europe. At 22, the Italy-born striker is learning his trade and needs to fine-tune some rough edges in his game. This might make him a gamble for Tottenham, who are in dire need of an established and reliable striker.
The Lilywhites paid a premium for Premier League-proven talents in the summer, and with De Zerbi’s side struggling for goals, penetration and cutting edge, we doubt they’d alter their transfer plans in the next transfer window. That said, our club chiefs must continue to follow Tresoldi’s progress in Belgium.
