Kieran Trippier claims this former Tottenham Hotspur star is the best right-back in the world

Kieran Trippier came off a fantastic World Cup campaign with England and has started the season exceptionally well with Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Burnley man scored a brilliant free-kick against Fulham last weekend. However, the Englishman claimed that his former teammate Kyle Walker was the best right-back in the world.

The Englishman was speaking to Soccer AM (h/t Sky Sports) as he said:

“At this moment in time, for me, personally, Walks. When I was playing with him at the World Cup, how quick and powerful he is. Even on the ball, you see it at Man City, he’s so comfortable.

“He’s got everything for a full-back, and he’s only getting better playing at Man City. So for me, he’s the No 1 right back in the world.”

Walker left Tottenham to join City last season and picked up the Premier League title under Pep Guardiola.

Trippier was asked about Tottenham not signing a player in the summer window but the Englishman believes Spurs have the quality to do well this season.

“No, it doesn’t matter. We know the squad we’ve got. We’ve got the manager, the players, and we’ve got so much quality in this team.

“We’ve got depth as well, so many good players waiting to play. About not signing a player? That doesn’t play on our minds, we’ve just got to fully focus on what’s ahead of us.”

Spurs have started the season with two wins from two games and our next clash is against Manchester United.

Should Trippier play to his potential at Old Trafford, we could see him nullify the United attack and possibly score from a dead-ball situation.
