£12.7m Long Term Tottenham Target Is Close To Agreeing A Deal With High-flying Bundesliga Club RB Leipzig

Bruma is a Tottenham target.

Tottenham may be on the verge of missing out on a top transfer target, as it has been reported by Kicker (h/t Football.London) that Portuguese winger Bruma is currently in talks with German outfit RB Leipzig. After finishing second in the German Bundesliga, RB Leipzig are in the market for several top players. They seem to have stolen the march on Bruma, who has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs throughout the season. Only a few weeks ago, it appeared that we had agreed on a £12.7million deal for the winger (Sabah).

Latest rumours, though, hint that Bruma is on the verge of making the switch to Germany for around £11 million. Bruma has been one of the top players in Turkish football. Even though Galatasaray endured a disappointing campaign, Bruma came up with statistics of 11 goals and 6 assists in just 30 league appearances. He has been one of Galatasaray’s top players, but the club’s unwillingness to increase the wage packet has been causing a lot of strain in the relationship. Now, Galatasaray’s failure to qualify for the Champions League seems to have been the final straw for the player, who came to Turkey back in 2013 from Sporting CP.

United appeared to be a likely destination for the player considering that manager Jose Mourinho was a fan of the player, who hails from his country. However, Mauricio Pochettino’s persuasion powers seem to have done enough until the entry of RB Leipzig. It remains to be seen if the wages were a stumbling block towards the completion of a deal, as Spurs have been criticised for not paying the players on the same scale as other top clubs.

If wages were an issue in signing the player, it would be extremely disappointing for every Spurs fan, who have been hoping for several arrivals at the club in the summer transfer window. Inability to strengthen the squad substantially last summer was seen as one of the reasons behind a mediocre start, which ultimately led to us losing out on the title race with Chelsea.

We will have to avoid making a repeat of the same this summer. It remains to be seen if Bruma faces any stumbling blocks in the potential move to RB Leipzig, thus allowing our entry into the picture once again.
