Jack Grealish

Jack Grealish will be offered a new contract at Aston Villa, according to the Daily Star. The report claims that the player would be the highest earner at Villa Park.

The report also adds that the player will double his £20,000-a-week salary even though he still has a couple of years left on his current contract with the Villans.

Tottenham were linked with a move for the 22-year-old midfielder but the report claims that Grealish would be allowed to leave the club should Villa not make it to the Premier League next season.

The Championship side were close last season but they fell at the final hurdle, losing to Fulham in the playoff final.

Tottenham haven’t made any moves in the summer window and created some unwanted history (h/t Daily Mail) by becoming the first Premier League club to not sign a player in the summer window.

The report also added that Daniel Levy was trying to take advantage of the financial issues that plagued Villa but that fell out after the financial takeover of the Championship club by Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens.

Sources close to the English midfielder, however, claim that the player is upset given that he was under the impression that he would be sold before Villa’s financial issues caught hold of the club, according to the report.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the Englishman next summer. Should Villa not be in a position to reach the Premier League, there could be a few clubs looking to sign the young midfielder.
