Tottenham players celebrate

Tottenham travel to the Emirates on Wednesday for a second bite of the cherry. The first meeting between Arsenal and Spurs did not go all that well with the home side running out 4-2 winners and denting our hopes of catching the top two.

Since then, Tottenham have turned things around and have picked up vital wins against Leicester, Burnley and Southampton. Not only that, we have additional grit and determination in our team with late goals coming in the win over the Clarets and not to forget, the incredible draw against Barcelona.

The Gunners will be smarting from their 3-2 loss against Southampton at the weekend, and that is something we should look to exploit on Wednesday.

Of course, we should not forget this is a Carabao Cup tie and not a Premier League game. However, we should not be taking our eye off the ball at all. This is as good a chance of Spurs to win a trophy under Mauricio Pochettino as any.

The one thing missing in our cabinet is a trophy and while the Champions League and Premier League look a little out of reach at the moment, the Carabao Cup would be a huge morale boost for the coming years.

One trophy in the bag will lead to an increased appetite for more success, and minor steps, such as winning the League Cup, is the perfect way to grow as a team.

The best players have to start for Pochettino

Hugo Lloris recently spoke about the team having additional motivation when facing the Gunners after the earlier loss, and Pochettino has to play our strongest team to put down the Gunners and take us into the semi-finals of the competition.

It won’t be easy given that we lost Eric Dier to an appendix problem and the team have struggled with injuries this season.

However, Pochettino has worked wonders with the tools at his hand, and recently gave Oliver Skipp his Premier League debut.

The 18-year-old looked like a veteran in midfield, and more games should be on the horizon for the youngster.

Tottenham have some of the most talented players in the Premier League, and even though we play Everton at the weekend, we need to concentrate on the Arsenal clash first.

Spurs came close to the Premier League a couple of years ago, yet we somehow managed to finish third in the race for the title behind Leicester City and Arsenal.

We are a better and more experienced team than that side, and this clash at the Emirates is another chance for us to prove ourselves as we look break Pochettino’s trophy duck in London.
