Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris hopes that the club will break their trophy drought this season and he finally wins silverware with the club.

Mauricio Pochettino is yet to win a title at the club but Lloris picked up the World Cup in the summer. However, things look difficult for Spurs this season with Liverpool leading the Premier League table.

The Frenchman was quoted by the Daily Mail speaking about winning titles and doing their best:

“This is what we work for.

“But we know we are in the Premier League and there are a lot of contenders, big teams, big players, and that is why we are excited to be here.”

The Tottenham captain claimed the team is playing in the most “competitive” league and wants them to do well.

“We have shown in the past that Tottenham is very competitive and we are reducing the gap with the best.”

The Lilywhites are third in the Premier League just one point behind Manchester City but the 3-1 defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers dented our Premier League hopes.

There is more than a chance of us reaching a cup final this season as we face Chelsea over two-legs in the Carabao Cup semi-final, and the FA Cup campaign is to begin at the weekend.

Spurs face a tough Champions League round of 16 clash against Borussia Dortmund too, and it will be a real test of our abilities when we take on the Bundesliga leaders.

Lloris is right in suggesting that the competition is tough but we have one of the best sides in the world, and with a little bit of luck on our side, there should be a trophy coming in soon.
