Spurs transfer news: Juventus eye Christian Eriksen on a free transfer

Italian giants Juventus are eyeing a move to sign Tottenham star Christian Eriksen on a free transfer by the end of this season, according to Mail Online.

With Eriksen not having signed a new deal with Spurs, the Italian side is looking to make use of the situation and sign him for free when his contract expires at the end of this season.

The Danish star can discuss personal terms with foreign clubs from January if he doesn’t sign a contract extension with Tottenham before that.

Eriksen is not the only player in the final year of his contract

Belgian stars Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are also in the final year of their contracts and it remains to be seen as to what the club does in order to hold onto the players.

Christian Eriksen is a key player in the team and his impact against Aston Villa last weekend is a testament to the same. Losing him for free would be a huge loss given the player’s market value and talent.

It would be very difficult for Pochettino to replace him, especially now that the transfer window is closed for us.

We must either cash in on him now or make him sign an extension and then offload him so that we end up making money from his sale.

It would be a huge boost for the club if Eriksen signs a new contract with us and stays for a long time. This is not the first time that Juventus are targeting a player on a free transfer, given that they recently signed Aaron Ramsey, Adrien Rabiot and Emre Can, saving millions of money.

Hence, we must do everything in our powers to not be at the receiving end of this transfer saga.

Spurs transfer news: Pochettino rejected the chance of Dybala-Eriksen swap

The Daily Mail reports that Mauricio Pochettino rejected a deal which would have seen Paulo Dybala replace Christian Eriksen at Tottenham.

The Argentine attacker had a below-average season last time around while Eriksen had spoken about taking up a new challenge after the Champions League final.

The Dane is out of a contract at the end of this season, and the report claims that Pochettino was hopeful that Eriksen would sign a new deal with the club.

Christian Eriksen

The manager refused to enter negotiations with Juventus, but the Italian giants are among the favourites to sign the Tottenham star alongside Barcelona (h/t Daily Mail).

Tottenham cannot sign any players now while Eriksen is free to negotiate with foreign teams in January given that his contract is expiring.

Spurs failing with talks

The report adds that Tottenham have failed with their attempts of a contract renewal for the Danish midfielder and Eriksen is not willing to accept a new offer from the club.

Paulo Dybala

Losing Eriksen for a free would be a major blow for Spurs and hopefully, we can get some money by selling the Dane in the January window, just as we did with Mousa Dembele.

Spurs transfer news: Tottenham scout Rennes youngster Camavinga

The Daily Mail reports that Tottenham had sent scouts over to watch Eduardo Camavinga in action against Paris Saint-Germain at the weekend.

The 16-year-old put up an excellent display against the French champions and helped Rennes defeat the Parisians.

The defensive midfielder set up the match-winning goal and was excellent throughout the night as PSG struggled to get the better of Rennes.

The report claims that Manchester City and Arsenal also sent scouts to watch Camavinga at the weekend, and Tottenham were interested in the teenager last season too.

The Angola-born midfielder has also gained the attention of Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid (h/t Daily Mail), and the youngster is already being compared to another French talent, Paul Pogba.

Camavinga has a long way to go in his career but he is one of the brightest talents coming through the French system.

Tottenham have already raided France this summer

Spurs made one of the best moves in the summer by landing Tanguy Ndombele, and the Frenchman has been one of the bright spots so far this season.

Camavinga could be a great addition to the team but we need to see how he does in the coming months.

Last season saw him break into the Rennes senior team and if he can continue his performances at a high level, there will be some serious offers for the 16-year-old.

Latest Spurs news: Lo Celso called-up for Argentina squad but Lamela omitted

Tottenham’s summer signing Giovani Lo Celso got a few minutes in the 2-2 draw against Manchester City and has been called up for the Argentina national team squad.

The former Real Betis and PSG midfielder featured for the side in their Copa America journey during the summer, and it will be interesting to see if he starts for us in our next game.

The 23-year-old is one of the most talented players from South America but needs time to adjust to the league after joining Tottenham on deadline day.

Although Lo Celso has done well in the past season, there was one surprise omission from the call-up list.

Where is Coco?

Erik Lamela has been one of the bright spots for Spurs this season and had two important moments in the draw against the Cityzens. The Argentine caught Ederson out of position for our first equaliser and it was his delivery that Lucas Moura turned into the net in the second half.

Lamela struggled for fitness in the previous campaign, but he could be an important player for us this season.

Tottenham didn’t sign any wingers in the summer and if Lamela stays fit, we should see more magic from the Argentine.

Many Tottenham fans were pleased for Lo Celso but were surprised at Lamela’s exclusion.

Spurs transfer news: Eriksen won’t enter contract talks despite £200,000-a-week offer

Christian Eriksen is out of a contract at the end of the season and the Mirror claims that the Dane has received no offers from other clubs so far.

The Dane is one of the best in the Premier League and Tottenham’s officials are confused as to why the midfielder isn’t sitting down for contract talks (h/t Mirror).

The report claims that Eriksen has been offered £200,000-a-week by Spurs, and that would make him one of the highest earners under Mauricio Pochettino.

However, the Dane wants a move to either Barcelona, Juventus or Real Madrid (h/t Mirror).

The European transfer window is open until 2nd September, and Tottenham can sell players to foreign clubs.

Eriksen is playing a dangerous game

The report adds that Eriksen’s representatives aren’t willing to discuss a new contract with Spurs. However, none of the clubs has made any inclination to sign the Tottenham star.

This leaves Eriksen’s future in limbo and he could remain at Tottenham beyond the window should a club fail to register a quality bid.

Dealing with Daniel Levy will be another problem for any club wanting to sign Eriksen, but Spurs have to play the game right.

Losing Eriksen for free would be a major error in our transfer business as we could get a decent sum from his sale this summer.

However, keeping him until the end of this season could see him join a Premier League rival, which would be a huge blow for us.
