Tottenham Hotspur interested in signing Burnley’s Dwight McNeil
Tottenham are interested in Burnley attacker Dwight McNeil, according to The Guardian.
The 20-year-old Englishman has made 39 Premier League appearances for the Clarets and has a return of 4 goals and 9 assists.
McNeil has started in all 17 of Burnley’s Premier League fixtures and has cemented his position on the left wing.
The report claims that the likes of Newcastle United and Chelsea are also interested in the player, with the latter considering him as an alternative if their attempt to sign Wilfried Zaha breaks down (h/t Guardian).
McNeil’s versatility could be key
McNeil’s ability fo function both as a winger and an attacking midfielder should interest us, considering our thin squad.
When compared to Jack Grealish, another player we are interested in (h/t Express), not only is McNeil younger by four years but he also has a similar outlay in terms of assists this season (4), while possessing better discipline.

Christian Eriksen is having a lacklustre season and his future remains uncertain. With a potential spot opening up, McNeil should have enough opportunities to impress at Spurs.
McNeil is young, direct and is familiar with the pace of the Premier League, meaning he could be moulded into an effective player for Tottenham.
