Moussa Sissoko has been ruled out of action till mid-April

In another blow to Mourinho, midfielder Moussa Sissoko has undergone knee ligament surgery and has been ruled out till at least mid-April. (h/t Guardian)

Sissoko is thought to have injured himself in a duel with James Ward Prowse in the 1-0 loss to Southampton. It did not seem overly serious at the time and the midfielder played the whole 90 minutes.

The midfielder underwent surgery to repair damage to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee and the club confirmed that the player is out for most of the season.

“Our medical staff will monitor Moussa’s recovery before he commences rehabilitation with a view to returning to training in early April,”

The injury has further compounded Mourinho’s problems at Tottenham as he prepares for the visit of Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Spurs already have Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris, Ben Davies, Danny Rose and Tanguy Ndombele out injured. Harry Winks also picked up a knock against Southampton to add further misery for the Portuguese boss. (h/t Guardian)

The injury crisis has come amidst a tumble in form for Spurs after a healthy start under Mourinho. Tottenham have picked up only 4 points in the last 4 games. The club have been unable to take advantage of Chelsea’s slip-ups and now find themselves 5 points off the Blues in fourth.

Thankfully for Tottenham, attacking stalwart Son Heung-Min will return after serving his suspension for the red card against Chelsea.

Mourinho has ended a Liverpool title charge once, we hope he can put a dent into it once again this weekend.
