There were nearly ten million votes received in the poll. Egyptian outfit Al Ahly, whose crest contains an eagle with its wings spread with a red-white background came first.

Moroccan club Raja Casablanca, whose emblem features an eagle standing on a football, along with a star, came in second. The third spot was taken by Brazilian outfit Fluminense.

The only English club that featured in the top ten was Liverpool, who came sixth, while just two European clubs – Fenerbahce and Real Madrid were voted in the top five.

Our London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal both finished ahead of us, finishing at 24th and 25th respectively. Manchester City were the last of the five Premier League outfits to feature in the Top 50 of ‘most beautiful’ logos according to the poll.

Our club badge has featured a cockerel since the 1921 FA Cup final. The club’s current crest, redesigned in 2006, consists of a sleek, elegant cockerel standing on a football.
