AS Roma keen on Jan Vertonghen

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport (h/t Sport Witness) AS Roma have been in contact with intermediaries to explore the possibility of signing Tottenham Hotspur star Jan Vertonghen this summer.

Vertonghen is in the final few months of his current contract with Spurs. His future has been subject of much transfer speculation, with serious interest from several clubs in Italy and Spain. AS Roma, though, have taken a step further, by getting in touch with representatives to test the waters.

Roma want Vertonghen as a replacement for on-loan star Chris Smalling. They have guaranteed that the Belgian will be a regular starter in Italy. However, wages could prove to be a problem in the deal, as per the report.

Benoit Badiashile identified as Vertonghen replacement

Tottenham are keeping tabs on AS Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile, as they eye the youngster a long-term replacement for Jan Vertonghen. This claims comes from Football Insider.

Badiashile has been compared to Napoli’s star defender Kalidou Koulibaly in the past. The 19-year-old has had an impressive campaign for the Principality outfit and will be available for a cut-price with transfer fees plummeting due to the coronavirus scare.

Roma striker Patrik Schick on Spurs’ radar

As per a report from Italian outlet La Roma 24, Tottenham are working on a deal to sign AS Roma striker Patrik Schick in the summer transfer window.

Schick is currently on loan at German club RB Leipzig, where he has scored seven goals and assisted three more in 19 appearances across all competitions. The Germans have the option to sign him permanently for a €29m fee, but are trying to reduce that fee due to the impact of the coronavirus on finances.
