Jose Mourinho at odds with Tottenham Hotspur board over new striker signing
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho and the club’s board disagree on the type of striker they want to bring in.
With the summer transfer window set to close on Monday, Spurs are running out of time in their efforts to bring in a new forward.
Harry Kane remains the lone specialist striker at the club. Given our busy schedule and lack of specialist options, going into the new season sans backup is a massive risk.

Mourinho wants a top-level striker to be brought in. However, convincing such a player to play second-fiddle to Kane has proven difficult. The club has meanwhile turned down the opportunity to take Luka Jovic on loan. (h/t Express)
“They have different ideas about the kind of strikers they want.”
Romano asserted that Mourinho is attempting to convince the Spurs board to follow his blueprint in their search for a forward. (h/t Express)
“They are discussing to find an agreement about the player”

One name that keeps popping up is that of Arkadiuz Milik. The Napoli star was also offered to Bayer Leverkusen only for the Germans to say no. (h/t Express)
An impressive player in his own right, there does appear to be interest from Spurs. Romano later tweeted that while Tottenham did make inquiries, they could not come to an agreement for the Polish star.
Meanwhile Benfica ace Carlos Vinicius appears to be on his way to Spurs. The 25-year-old is reported to be joining on a one-year loan with an option to buy. Importantly his signing appears to have Mourinho’s blessing.
