Tottenham News: Jose Mourinho still feeling after-effects of UEL exit
According to the latest news from The Independent, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that he is still hurting from the club’s Europa League exit.
Tottenham Hotspur crashed out of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night as a hat-trick from Mislav Orsic condemned Mourinho & co. to a 3-2 aggregate defeat. Having come into the game with a two-goal advantage from the first leg, Spurs looked lethargic and lacked any sort of intent on the night, in complete contrast to Dinamo.
Mourinho, speaking after the game, had questioned his players’ attitude and professionalism after putting in such an insipid display in a crucial game. Now, further opening up on his feelings after the defeat, the Portuguese tactician has claimed that it has to be one of the lowest moments of his career.
“For sure it’s one of the most difficult, I don’t know if it’s the most difficult one. But honestly I don’t believe [I had] a similar feeling. I had in Europe moments of big pain but pain caused by what football is. I lost two Champions League semi-finals on penalties. It hurts you. [I’m] maybe still bleeding.”
Mourinho then went on to add that Tottenham’s only chance of winning a trophy in the Carabao Cup will be anything but easy against a rampant Manchester City side in the final next month.
“Of course, the only chance that we have to win a trophy this season is the final that we have to play against a very good team, against the next champions and a team that match after match show an incredible desire of winning.”
