Emile Smith Rowe reveals he joined Arsenal after rejecting transfer advances from Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal starlet, Emile Smith Rowe, was speaking to the Daily Mail (h/t football.london) and revealed that he rejected a transfer move from Tottenham Hotspur in favour of a move to his childhood club.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder starred in a North London derby win earlier this month. Smith Rowe put in an impressive performance when the Gunners trumped Spurs 2-1 in the league.

And he has now revealed that he had a chance to don the famous white shirt before he even penned a contract with the Gunners.

“I trialled at Chelsea and didn’t get in. Something about me not being big enough… But Arsenal found out and picked me up… Tottenham showed interest but I stood by Arsenal. They’re my club.”

No, thank you

Smith Rowe has had a massive individual season at Arsenal so far as he has found a place in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI recently. And he revealed in the interview that he is a Gunners fan as well.

He says that it is because his brother was an Arsenal fan but went on to disclose that their father’s allegiances lied with The Lilywhites.

“My Dad’s a Tottenham fan. My brother’s an Arsenal fan, thankfully, so I followed him! When I got home, I had a joke with my Dad, but obviously, he was buzzing for me.”

He would have been some addition to the Spurs team, but with his love for Arsenal, it is probably for the best that he found a career for himself at The Emirates.

Smith Rowe has spent his entire footballing career on the Gunners’ books, but has been loaned twice; first, to RB Leipzig, and then, to Huddersfield. But it seems that the days of proving himself are over as he continues to warrant a place in the Arsenal midfield.
