Transfer News: Tottenham target Jerome Boateng open to London switch
According to Christian Falk of German news outlet BILD (h/t Sport Witness), Jerome Boateng would be open to a transfer to London amid serious interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Boateng, 32, will bring an end to his decade-long association with Bayern Munich this summer with his contract set to run down at the culmination of the current campaign. With the club not deciding to extend his deal, the German centre-back will be a free agent heading into the summer transfer window.
This has led to a flurry of interest in his services, including from the likes of Tottenham and Barcelona. Recent reports had indicated that Spurs are leading the Catalan giants in the race to sign Boateng. And now, Christian Falk of BILD has claimed that the veteran centre-back would very much consider a transfer to London this summer.
“Yes, from the people we heard about the potential interest and that the player very well could imagine a move to London at the moment. Nothing has been said yet, there are no concrete talks, but just that his name appears on the shortlist.
“I think his stock has gone up a bit because we saw him playing against Paris Saint Germain and he was used to defend against Neymar. It was good publicity for the man.”

Boateng, at 32, may not be the defender he once was but as Falk mentions, he has performed well of late, showing that he still has plenty left to offer. His experience and winning mentality would further rub on the Tottenham squad that does lack someone of his stature within the ranks.
It, however, remains to be seen if a transfer does see the light of the day given as our London rivals Arsenal have also been credited with an interest.
