Tottenham players react on social media after Jose Mourinho sacking

Safe to say, the past 36 hours or so have been sort of a whirlwind for Tottenham Hotspur, what with the formation of the European Super League as well as the sacking of manager Jose Mourinho.

Amidst the furore created by the news of the breakaway football competition involving 12 big clubs across Europe, including Tottenham, Daniel Levy managed to sneak in the news of letting Mourinho go.

It had been coming for a while now, with the performances on a decline since mid-December and the manner of the exit from the UEFA Europa League. Nonetheless, the timing was quite a surprise given as we are scheduled to face off against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final later this week.

That, however, didn’t seem to matter to Levy and Tottenham as Mourinho’s departure, along with his entire staff, was announced on Monday. The Portuguese, having taken over following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino in November 2019, lasted 17 months, overseeing some highs and some lows.

Reports have claimed that a potential player revolt was a strong factor behind Mourinho’s sacking. Nevertheless, some of Tottenham’s top players, including star duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, among others, took to social media to react to the news of the club letting Jose go.
