Transfer News: Tottenham interested in Caleb Chukwuemeka
According to news from Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are intensely pursuing the transfer of Northampton Town’s teenage starlet Caleb Chukwuemeka.
The 19-year-old striker is a product of the Northampton Town youth academy. He made his first-team debut for the League One club this season and has gone on to make 25 appearances so far, scoring two goals.
Brother of Aston Villa’s teenage prodigy Carney Chukwuemeka, Caleb is yet to sign a professional contract with Northampton Town. And this has alerted a hot of clubs in England, including Tottenham Hotspur, as per the report.
Indeed, former Spurs manager David Pleat has been keeping close tabs on the 19-year-old striker and reporting back to the club. The 76-year-old works in an advisory capacity for Tottenham and is constantly used as a sounding board for transfers by chairman Daniel Levy.
The report goes on to claim that Pleat has been keeping a close watch on Chukwuemeka’s development. In fact, the former head coach was watching the teenage centre-forward in action this past Tuesday as Northampton Town defeated Ipswich Town 3-0.
Chukwuemeka is a versatile attacker who can play anywhere across the frontline. The 19-year-old is tied to a scholarship contract with the League One club till the summer of 2022. Northampton Town have been meaning to open discussions over a new deal with the forward.

But with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur entering into the picture, there may well be a case of Chukwuemeka deciding to move on from the club rather than continue at Northampton. It, however, remains to be seen if there is any truth to these claims.
